In summary, we have staff that have served our nation in positions requiring the highest levels of computer security possible - and now they are making that expertise available to the "civilian" market through SSA Data Hosting Services.

Executive Team

Sam Morales
Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Morales is one of the founders of Sequestered Solutions Alaska.

Previously, he served as the Chief Information Officer with Alaska Communications Systems. He also gained vast outsourcing experience at Computer Task Group and was responsible for the second largest managed-services contract. He spent eighteen years in the Alaskan banking environment, involved with a start-up bank, serving as its vice-president of IT, and later as its vice-president of electronic banking.

Dr. Lara Baker
Chief Technical Officer

Dr. Baker is one of the founders of Sequestered Solutions Alaska.

Previously, he gained extensive experience in computer security while employed with the Los Alamos National Laboratory and as a consultant to various international commercial organizations. During assignments to the Intelligence Community staff, he was heavily involved in the development of computer security policy, was the principal drafter of the Director of Central Intelligence's Directive on Information Protection, and held senior positions overseeing the security of large, distributed data-centers for various Intelligence Community agencies. He has been responsible for the overall security evaluations of all the DOE's nuclear weapons program facilities and has been director of the DOE Center for Computer Security and the DOE Center for Operations Security. He has also received US patent number 6,718,385 for development of a "System for controlling movement of information using an information diode between a source network and a destination network."

Mr. Joe Henri
Chief Legal Council

Mr. Henri is one of the founders of Sequestered Solutions Alaska.

Mr. Henri has been practicing law in Alaska for 44 years and is a graduate from Georgetown University Law Center. He currently holds a Juris Doctor degree and two previous degrees. He was admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, and all federal and state courts in Alaska. He has served in the following capacities: member, University of Alaska Board of Regents, appointed by Governor Walter J. Hickel; chair of finance, Facilities & Land Management Committee; adjunct instructor in Philosophy and English, University of Alaska, Fairbanks; aide, Alaska U.S. Senator Ernest Gruening; state district judge, Fairbanks, Alaska; and city attorney and city manager, Juneau. He further served as the Alaska Commissioner of Administration for Governor Egan's third term, overseeing the state budget, accounting, personnel, purchasing, Pioneer Homes, Longevity Bonus, computing, retirement, risk management, lobbying, and reporting. During this time, he also revamped the budget and accounting systems and introduced a risk management concept.

Todd Broste
Operations Manager

Mr. Broste is a recent "outside" management recruiting success of Sequestered Solutions Alaska.

Mr. Broste brings over 12 years of IT related experience, from Tier 1 phone support, Computer Instructor and Engineer, to the Project Manager for the build of one of the fastest supercomputers in the world. Previously working at Sandia Laboratories, Los Alamos Laboratories, and Lawrence Livermore Laboratories before joining Sequestered Solutions, Todd bridges the gap between Engineer and CEO with confidence, and brings a strong customer service focus to his work at SSA. “IT providers need to have the best customer service skills because so few of their customers really understand the product. To the average consumer, we are selling a type of magic…We are wizards when it works and cursed at when it doesn’t and it’s how we take care of them as customers that keeps them believing in the magic.”

Mike Shea
Program Coordinator

Mr. Shea is one of the original members of the Sequestered Solutions Alaska Staff.

Previously, Mr. Shea served as Senior Project Manager for Diamond Management and Consulting, which was contracted to British Petroleum to provide management oversight of their Alaska Oil Field Information Technology Projects. Mr. Shea's last two projects with British Petroleum involved the upgrade and replacement of all Microwave Radio Systems in the Eastern Operating Area of the Prudhoe Bay Oil Field, and, the Telecom Systems Design and Installation for all telecommunications systems at the new Alaska Oil Field called "Northstar" - built on a man-made island in the Arctic Ocean. Risks were successfully managed, and both projects were executed as planned - completing on time, and at or under the authorized financial targets.
